At St John Fisher, we are proud of our ‘Gardeners and Seeds’ programme, a special initiative designed to nurture a caring and supportive school community. In this programme, our Year 6 pupils, known as the Gardeners, take on a mentoring role, guiding and supporting our youngest children in Reception, who are affectionately called the Seeds.

The programme is built on the belief that every child can flourish with love, encouragement, and care. Our Gardeners help the Seeds settle into school life, offering friendship, reassurance, and a helping hand as they begin their journey at St John Fisher. This relationship fosters confidence and a sense of belonging in our youngest pupils, while also encouraging responsibility, empathy, and leadership in our older children.

Throughout the year, Gardeners and Seeds take part in shared activities such as reading together, creative projects, and playtime interactions. These moments help build strong, lasting bonds and reflect the values of kindness, respect, and community that lie at the heart of our Catholic faith.
